DGCC Speed Chess Tournament: Rules and Results
DGCC's casual speed chess tournaments use the following rules:
All speed chess tournaments are unrated, with no entry fee and no prizes.
For G/10 (each player has 10 minutes to play the entire game) and longer, the usual USCF rules for sudden death will be used. (Touch move, 2 minutes added to opponent's clock for making an illegal move, no capturing of Kings, etc.).
For G/5 only:
Clock move (can take moves until you've punched your clock).
Live King (if a King is left in check or moves into check, the opponent wins the game by “capturing” the King).
You can't lose due to running out of time if your opponent has only a King left, or only a King and 1 Bishop, or only a King and 1 Knight. Then the game is drawn. It also is a draw if both players run out of time.
